It is Spring 2026 Already - 41 Revolutions Around The Sun

Has been a few months since the last post wrapping up 2025. Had a great end of the year and now here we are already over a quarter done with 2026. Turned 41 this year. Had a great week in my happy place, St. Simons Island, GA. Had friends and family come down for a week.

St. Simons Island

If you are like me, I forget that Georgia has a coast. Ironically, I am a Georgia Native and have been to the Georgia Coast only a pair of times before this. I have been to Singapore nine times but been to Savannah, GA once and St. Simons Island twice and now a third time. For my birthday, rented a house for a week to experience more time and life on the island.

Wanted to simulate what it would be like to live there for a week. Potentially was considering a more longer term personal property on SSI but wanted to run a week there. I joined a gym for a week at The Club SSI on their “snow bird” week long plan. Got the rhythm and vibe more of the island. Coastal GA is what you would expect in the Coastal South East USA; calm island vibes.

Below are some images from SSI. Also there is Jekyll Island in there at Driftwood Beach.

First Electric Roadtrip

Part of the SSI trip, was my first roadtrip in my Rivian R1S that I got in 2025. I have not used public charging infrastructure before the roadtrip. Is about 300 miles door to door from my house in ATL to SSI. Worked out well. I did learn that if you go over 70mph, the electric efficiency really drops in my R1S. So you might gain a few minutes going a little faster, but will pay that back with interest charging time wise. Used the Rivian Network for public charging. What got me was the price, it is not cheap like charging at home :-)

Two pictures below, used Rivian Autonomy most of the way to SSI and gave Rivian Network a test drive to charge up the R1S.

The Health Journey Update - Q1CY26

For those who know me, I have been on a health journey in earnest since August 2025. The journey was slowly kicking off in late Jan 2025 when I went onto a GLP1. Though progress was slow based on poor choices I was making. Finally turned that around in August 2025, the insurance company was going to drop the GLP1 since progress stalled.

SW [starting weight] in Jan 2025: 297 with A1C of 8.3
CW [current weight] in mid April 2026: 233 with A1C of 5.7

My main goal here is to gain capacity and energy and reverse the damage that being diabetic for over a decade was doing. When starting in Jan 2025, walking 1.5 miles was very tiring, was all the energy that I had at the gym and could not do a resistance circuit. In mid April 2026, I walk 8.5+ miles every other day and then weave that in with a 3.4mile + full body light to moderate resistance circuit.

Consistency > Intensity

This has been my motto. From exercising maybe 1x every 2 weeks or so, have gotten the ability to exercise 7x a week. To get here, was not overnight, took several months of progression and friction reduction. I usually go the gym before work. Once you are consistent with calories in vs calories out and motion even if low impact, results will come.

What does this mean to me?

Simple enough, building capacity and optionality. I enjoy walking now and can enjoy brands I did not have access to before like Alo, Rhoback, Peter Millar, etc because I was just too big. Now excited to walk and rep properly fitting clothes.

Last gallery below. Because of my added capcity, walked the National Mall in DC before a BBQ at my friend’s place. Of course had to sneak a Kofi pic in there. Onwards to Summer 2026 when we check in again!
