It's Already Fall 2023 - Summer / Early Fall Re-Cap

Spring ended and Summer has came and gone. Sorry for the long time between updates. Let’s get caught up! Glad the summer heat here in ATL has finally cracked and cooler temps are around the corner here in ATL.

April - Oct, Travel Updates

Recap on where I have been in-between. Finally work traveled picked up a little. Was able to go back to HQ in SF and MTV after a long hiatus. Not up to the pre-pandemic levels at all, but was happy to get a few trips in during the late spring/summer. Finally put my travel magnets on my fridge again after the fridge fiasco when I first moved in to my new spot last summer.

  • Northern Virginia

  • NYC/Hoboken

  • San Francisco

  • Nashville

  • Buffalo, NY

Family and Friends

Family evens are getting back into the swing of things. I feel I’ve been to more family events this season as more of the family are regularly meeting up now which is great. Got to spend some great time with my family and friends!

Water vs My Home

Rounding out the first year of new home ownership here in the ATL. We had a really unseasonably wet summer and a lot more rain. Had a few drainage problems in my yard and even a leak in the roof that all got squared away.

Yard Drainage

The yard drainage was a problem with the influx of heavy rain. When the the sod was placed, there were a pair of drainage emitters that were covered up. Ended up hiring a landscape drainage specialist to extend the french drain system around the house, re-expose the emitters, and jet wash the lines. Water had to be standing for 48 hours for the builder to cover which the water would eventually drain away.

Random Water Leaks

Because of the really heavy rain, water will find a way to the ground. Builder was nice enough to remedy these water leaks in the house. The first was a single shingle was punctured most likely due to installation from a ladder grip. Water dripped into my master bedroom ceiling. The harder leaks to figure out was in my foyer and one of my first floor windows. The foyer was due to one of the windows in the foyer not being latched properly. Builder fixed. Next was another window water would leak into. Builder found window above that window [on another floor] had some clogged ports [someone siliconed over them]. Cleared that up.

All good so far at the end of the really rainy season. Got my sod replaced where the sod was dead [and also where Kofi likes to dig].

The Kofi

Kofi is certainly getting older. Pretty mellow compared to how he used to be in his peak puppy years. Though, he is still a husky and can get a lot of energy / drive to escape have to keep you eye on him. But certainly a great dude.

Onwards Fall and Winter 2023

Coming up soon is my October Hawaii trip, really looking forward to that. Trying out a new island for the first time Kaui. Work wise getting to focus on Developer Education and Developer Experience more exclusively now and team is getting bigger. Have two distinct teams reporting to me and excited to help lead these capabilities with such a great team.

My pandemic Porsche was coming out of warranty in a few months and decided to take a pause from the brand and capitalize on the trade-in value. Was looking for a lower TCO and something unique and landed on a new Lexus IS 500. My second Toyota product Ended up getting a Tacoma late last year so the family has access to a pickup truck. Operating a Toyota is a little simpler than the previous brands I had [Porsche, Audi, BMW]. Was not looking forward to the Porsche being out of warranty and just had the last of the pre-paid maintenance so was totally on my own.

No replacement for displacement. Lexus 5.0L NA V8.

Spotify Year in Review, 2023

Stay tuned for the Year in Review for 2023 for Spotify. According to “Spotify on Repeat”, this is my most replayed song in the last 30 days. Let’s see!

TBD: Spotify and Square are not playing along nicely :-)
